U12 Girls Win Championship

On January 2, 2010, the U12 girls won the 2009 Winter A championship at Sportsplex. In the title game the girls played the Northtowns Jaguars. The U12 girls have been involved in a great rivalry with the Jaguars that goes back to when both were U10 teams. The teams have been extremely closely matched and have played many hard fought and competitive games over the past 2 years, but the Lockport girls had never beaten them.

In the title game, which was very intense and exciting throughout, the Jaguars broke a scoreless tie with a goal with about 8 minutes remaining in the game. Lockport battled back and tied the game with under 3 minutes left to play.

The game went into a shoot out which was tied 1-1 after the first 5 shooters. The shoot out then went into sudden death, and was not decided until the 11th shooter! It was a thrilling ending to a great game. Lockport finished the session with a 7-1 record, with the lone loss coming earlier in the session against the Jaguars in a tight 1-0 game.
